We recommend oak wilt trenching to stop disease movement and reduce the footprint of an oak wilt center. At Oak Wilt Pros, we trench to a depth of 52″, exceeding the Texas Forest Service’s minimum requirement to improve trench success rates. We cut trenches at least 100 feet from the infected area to avoid disease movement in the root systems. Further excavation may be necessary in deep root zones depending on the topography and soil composition.

Currently we have over 150 oaks on the property many in clusters. They were very clear that we had absolutely no issues or dangers and their services would not be required. As great as that was to hear, they walked the property for about 45 minutes and gave me insights into how oak wilt occurs and taught me when, where and how to cut as well as recommendations for general clean-up of juniper and cedar that I’d like to remove. It’s been 60 days since their visit and I’ve been able to implement their advice to great satisfaction. When offerring to pay for the consult they refused payment and said they were happy to build the relationship. This is the lind of great humanity I’ve come to appreciate and love in my 20 years in Texas. I fully endorse these folks and the integrity with which they approach their work.
